We have an exciting range of textures available, however, if you have your own particular design we are always happy to assist you in creating a unique concept. Please feel free to discuss your ideas with one of our sales team.
As described in the signage technical information, there are four basic applications for signage in formed glass. The most preferred application is impressed signage. This is when the artwork and/or text is set into the rear of the panel and viewed from the smooth side. Colour and sand blasting can then be added for further definition.
Kiln cast glass is when a piece of annealed glass has been melted into a mold to create a relief of the molded texture. With careful temperatures and timing the glass is formed without changing the original properties of the glass. This allows us to later temper the glass without the glass breaking.
Glazart offers the option of 6, 8, 10, 15 and 19mm glass although the most common thickness is 10mm as it is suitable for most applications.
Quite simply, fused glass is a number of pieces of glass being fused/melted together. The disadvantage of the fused glass process is, however, that once more than one piece of glass has been fused it is no longer possible to toughen the glass to international standards, as the properties of the glass have now changed.
Yes textured glass can be bent, however the radius should be greater than a radius of 1500mm. This can be an expensive process so consideration of the necessity for bending should be measured.
No. Although the glass appears heavier as the texture makes the glass look thicker, the actual weight will be the same as unprocessed glass of the same size.
Formed glass offers movement in the glass and presents a more 3-Dimentional appearance. It is easier to reach a concept or idea using formed glass as it can be manipulated to the specific requirements.
Glazart would never supply glass otherwise. All of our standard textures are toughened to international standards, and if required can also be laminated for flooring or ceilings.
Although there are some limitations most of our standard textures can be combined in the same panel. We have a team of designers to guide you through this application if required.
Formed glass can be used in any way that flat float glass can be used. Holes, notches and cutouts can all be added to the glass although as with flat glass there are restrictions in the material. See technical guidelines for further information.
The minimum glass size for annealed glass is 20mm x 20mm although for toughening 300mm x 300mm is required. We advise that the maximum size should be 1600mm x 3000mm x 12mm for handling and transport.
Yes. There is a size limitation of 2500mm x 2500mm with a minimum radius of 1500mm.
It is important to toughen glass when it is used for applications such as screens, partitions and signage and there is a high risk of human contact with the glass. This is to ensure that should the glass break, it will shatter into small pieces and thereby minimize the possibility of any injury occurring.
Unfortunately not. Once the glass has been toughened there is little that can be done. Since the glass is under stress which makes it stronger against impact any attempts to alter the shape are likely to result in the glass breaking.
When a panel is required to be curved and toughened, the process is completed simultaneously. However, if a panel has already been curved it will not be possible to toughen the same at a later date.
It is possible to check whether a panel has been toughened by the stamp which is permanently affixed on the bottom right-hand corner of the glass (this location can be altered if required). All Glazart toughened pieces will bear this mark.
Depending on the quantity we recommend 3 – 4 weeks for delivery within the UAE. This time frame is based upon our production schedule and to ensuring the glass will be delivered on time. However if the requirement is urgent we will make every effort to accommodate your time frame.
We are more than happy to deliver your glass to any destination. The glass will be packed in a suitable crate for transport by sea or plane. Please discuss your specific requirements with one of our sales team who are always available to assist you.
Allure is the cold application of colour (transparent, translucent, metallic and opaque) which can be applied to either side of the glass. This process is best suited to indoor features as weathering can fade the colour over time.
Glazart offers a standard range of colours for you to choose from. It is possible to match almost any opaque or metallic colour, however the it should be considered that in order to create a translucent or transparent colour the body of the colour (for example white or black) is replaced by a clear body. Colours with large amounts of white or black do not transfer well to this process
If you require assistance with installation, we are happy to refer to you to a preferred contractor. Alternatively, we can liaise on your behalf with the contractor although this will incur an additional charge.
We are happy to offer full solutions for fixings for your particular Glazart piece. Please speak to one of sales team for any specific requirements.
Resin lamination is when two or more pieces of glass are bonded together using resin. This is also a safety glass and can be used as an alternative to toughening in some applications. Floors and ceilings in particular are recommended to be laminated. For further information please contact our sales department.
It is possible to laminate minimal textures, however, the deeper the texture the more difficult it is to achieve consistent lamination.
Yes. It may be advantageous to laminate and toughen panels if extra strength is required. The panels must first be toughened and then they can be laminated together.
